This week we are working on using our phonics sounds to write words. We are asking the children to use their fingers to segment each word and write the correct letter for the sound (remembering to hold their pencil correctly). Our theme is the seaside so we are labelling seaside objects and following this we will begin to describe the objects using adjectives - slimy seaweed and jagged rocks etc. We hope to create a mini leaflet all about the seaside by the end of the unit of work!

Wednesday's work : Look at these leaflets together with your child - they are not expected to read them independently. Discuss the features of  a leaflet such as heading, pictures and boxes around the text. Talk about the purpose of these things and see if your child can find the features themselves. Do they know what the leaflet is about from looking at these features?

Friday

Have a go at writing a seaside leaflet. Draw a picture of each object you want to write about. Then have a go at using an adjective to describe it. You could even try short sentences using your sounds

For example. Come and walk on the soft sand. Smell the sea air.
