Literacy

1. Enjoy sharing The Gingerbread Man story with your child.

Encourage your child to join in with the repeated refrains e.g. get your child to join in saying "Run, run as fast as you can. You can't catch me I'm the gingerbread man."

Why not bring the story to life by creating and adding actions with your child. Add sound effects using your body and voice or trying adding sound effects using everyday objects as musical instruments. Think about the speed of the sound effects e.g. if the gingerbread man is running you could do fast tapping on the table to create the noise of his footsteps.

2. Order the story using pictures.

Have a go at remembering what happened in the story. Your child could act it out too if they want.

What happened first?

What happened next?

Then what happened?

What happened finally / last?

What was your favourite part? Why?
